Fornals LWB are you sure????
Put Johnson there or Creswell and bring in Diop
Id rather Snodgrass than Fornals, Fornals runs about alot but defending????? no chance

Re: Team for Leeds

Leeds break so quickly it would be suicidal to expose Cresswell in a flat back four, can't see him doing it.
Fornals at wingback is my guess, though I would pick Johnson as can defend and is quick.

So Masuaku out! I’d put Fornals as a kind “wing back” which he has done for us and Benrahma behind Haller with Bowen.

Masuaku's injury very convenient. Has saved Moyes from having to make a bold decision for once.

Alternatively, the old Christmas tree 4-3-2-1 with Fornals playing in central midfield, where he might get more targets for his passes, and Rice dropping back to help Creswell.

Hm, interesting. Arthur out. My first thought was to replace him with Diop and move Cresswell forward, but I think if we did that, we'd be missing Creswell's crosses since he'd have less space. He's not tricky and able to make space for himself like Arthur.
Testing their centre-backs with crosses will probably be important, so I think I'll go with Benrahma on the left. He might draw defenders away from Creswell as well as providing crosses himself.

Defensively we'd be a bit fragile down the left, but I think we've got to take this game to them, not just play cautiously.

daveyg - you must be absolutely made up that Arthur is out. I know he's not exactly a world beater but the way you've been on his back is a bit excessive.
So you think Johnson is the best option? Based on what, exactly?

Let's get this right. Masuaku wasn't much but added a left side balance. Offerered nothing going forward, when was the last time he added an assist or scored ? Let's get this right. Creswell is definetly not a left wing back,is only just a left back. Johnson is our better option or Fornals at a stretch. We need to find out who can play as a wing back or left back if the favoured Masuaku is out for a long period. Cresswell is not the answer.

Re: Team for Leeds

Problem with brining Diop in is it likely moves Ogbonna from the centre and not only that Cresswell is the only one who can bring the ball out in that back 3. All of Balbuena, Diop & Ogbonna are quite poor on the ball, I do fully expect Moyes to do that though.

It turns out that I didn't suggest that in the OP, but I did mean to.

Re: Team for Leeds

There are various options for replacing Arthur, but none of them is ideal. We have nobody with any pace apart from Benrahma, and he may not be up to it defensively. Johnson has reasonable pace and defensive nous but I am very unconvinced by his attacking abilities. Snoddy would be a good left-sided option but is very slow, though he makes up for it with other qualities such as excellent dead ball delivery. Fornals is a good all-rounder, but again very slow and not much of a tackler. Tricky one.
The alternative, as I suggested in the OP, would be to move Cresswell up to LWB and bring Diop into the back three.

Re: Team for Leeds

2 injuries and they are the 2 quickest players in the side. He hasn’t been great last few games but he’s the only one along with maybe Bowen who can inject a bit of pace in the side when attacking. I’d stick Snodgrass there but on the proviso that Benramha plays and not Fornals. The pace issue within the squad needs addressing though.

Re: Team for Leeds

Johnson is more than capable of replacing Masuaku who is are weaklink. Having to play Johnson as a wing back will be easier than as a full back. It certainly makes Masuaku seem better than he is. We might actually see a cross from that position or an atempt to beat the man. I don't think Benrhama there is good idea agaisnt Leeds. Maybe he will replace Fornals for longer or Haller if we aren't getting anywhere.
